My Story

HELLO! My name is Alice Burrows AND I LIVE IN BEAUTIFUL SOUTH DEVON. I set up alice apple in 2008 and i have a passion for 1960s/70s floral surface pattern, vintage toys and packaging and all things kitsch!
I grew up in a creative enviroment always painting, making my own clothes, crocheting and obsessing over images in my Mum's 70s craft and lifestyle books.
These images were a huge influence to the vintage 1960s/70s style I work in; I love the bold florals and the brave, bright colours of the era!
I attended the University of Derby and graduated with a degree in Textile Design in 2001, specialising in print. Since then I have created toys made from my collection of vintage fabrics and I use my self taught Photoshop skills to create my own fabric designs and artwork.
As well as digital design, I also work with felt, screen printing and paper to create unique products for children and appreciators of my fun retro style!
RECENTLY I WAS DISCOVERED BY SAN FRANCISCO BASED INDEPENENT PUBLISHERS, CHRONICLE BOOKS, WITH WHOM I HAVE MY FIRST COLLABORATION PUBLISHED AND ON SALE NOW, "LITTLE BLUEBIRD'S MATCHING GAME".
